Despite the cold, windy and rainy weather, we will soon be leaving Winter behind us and heading into Spring where the natural world refreshes itself. The sun will pop its head up, the birds will start up with their morning song and the world outside our doors and windows will start to look greener, healthier, fresh and new. And with that refresh comes Spring Cleaning in the months of March and April, that time of year where we deep clean our homes, give them a refresh to revive them and clean up the odd winter carpet stain.
The winter weather, whether it’s rain or snow, leaves behind a trail of dirt and debris. It gets dragged in on our shoes in the form of dirty water, mud, dirt and grime and even dead leaves. And as careful as we try to be, stains will still find their way onto the carpets. Ideally all the carpets could probably do with a deep clean after winter, but not everybody has, wants or can afford to buy or hire a carpet washer/cleaner. And who wants to go to the trouble of getting out the carpet washer or hiring one when there are only a few spots or small stains? That’s what a bottle of Dr. Beckmann Carpet Stain Remover is for, and for small stains it really does work.
Dr. Beckmann Carpet Stain Remover is used on carpets and soft furnishings in the home or car. The bottle claims to remove tough stains caused by red wine, coffee, fruit juice, grease etc. as well as odours from carpets and upholstery (except materials and fabric that just water could damage such as leather, suede, silk, velvet etc.).
It comes is a large 650ml bottle complete with its own applicator/brush attached so there is no need for extra scrubbing brushes, all you need is a white cloth.
As with most carpet, upholstery and fabric cleaners it is recommended that you try it out on a small inconspicuous patch first to make sure that it won’t damage it – if you have a small off-cut of your carpet, that would be ideal. Apply the solution using the application brush and leave on for 30 minutes. When time is up, if the test area has had no adverse reaction such as bleaching and looks cleaner you are good to use it on more noticeable stained areas.
Using it is easy, you just need to gently squeeze the bottle, letting out a small amount of liquid on to the applicator brush and rub into the carpet until in starts to foam (just be careful not to soak the carpet). Leave for 3 minutes and then wipe it off using a damp white cloth. For me, the results were excellent and immediately noticeable with stains greatly reduced or gone. With the stain I was working on, it all but completely disappeared and was looking good, the carpet also smelt fresh and nice. And because you are not soaking the carpet or doing vast areas, the carpet dries quickly.
As you only use small amounts of the liquid at one time, the 650ml bottle will go a long way and help you get rid of a lot of carpet stains.
Overall, I found the Dr. Beckmann Carpet Stain Remover to be excellent at removing small stains using its oxy-power formula. It removed stains from the carpet that had been there for a long time, and very little effort was required. It also left the carpet smelling fresh and clean.
I would highly recommend keeping a bottle in the cleaning cupboard for those accidental spillages. It is extremely easy to use, and it gets rid of stains and neutralises odours.
