Most teenagers and adults will have a smartphone these days. We rely on them for more than phone calls and messages. They are powerful minicomputers that we keep in our pockets and bags and they go everywhere with us. We can do so much more than make/receive calls and texts – we use them like a credit card for paying for things, doing our banking, taking videos and photos, playing games and streaming video or music and that’s just a small part of what these devices can do. And for such a small device, how often have you panicked when you can’t find your phone? Or worse still, when it is running out of battery? I always try to keep a portable charger with me, a power bank, so that if I am running out of battery and am not near a power socket I can keep my phone topped up. And I have been trying out a new one, a very handy little device that is small enough to fit in your pocket and will give your phone a charge without the need to find a mains outlet or even a cable – the iWALK LinkPod Portable Charger.
The iWALK LinkPod Portable Charger is available in two versions: iPhone (Lightning Connector) or Android (USB-C connector). And it is even available in four different colour options so that you can match it better with your phone; Black, White, Pink or Purple.
The LinkPod features a 4800mAh battery, weighs approximately 90g and is small enough to fit in your pocket. With all other power banks that I have used, they require a cable to link the charger to the phone or tablet, but the LinkPod is very different, it is a direct docking power bank that plugs into the charging port on your phone. Depending on what phone you have and the way you are using it, it has enough in to fully charge your phone (my Samsung Galaxy Note9 charged from 4% to 85% with the phone still on but just displaying the clock).
The iWALK LinkPod is compatible with:
USB-C devices, popular phones such as:
- Samsung: S22, S21, S20, S10, S9, S8, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Z Fold3, Note20, Note10, Note9, Galaxy A73, Galaxy A13, Galaxy A33, Galaxy A53, Galaxy A52s
- Google: Pixel 6, Pixel 5, Pixel 4, Pixel 3, Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 4,
- LG: G8, G7, G6, G5, G4, G3, Velvet, V60, V50, V40, V35, V30,
- Moto: Motocare Razr2, Motorola Edge, Moto G Power, Moto G Stylus, Moto G100, Moto G Play, Moto G Fast, Motorola One
- OnePlus: OnePlus Nord CE 2, OnePlus Nord 2, OnePlus 9, OnePlus Nord CE 2, 8T, N10, OnePlus Nord,
- OnePlus 8, OnePlus 7t Pro
iPhones:
- 14/14 Plus/14 Pro/14 Pro Max/iPhone SE
- 13/13 Pro/13 Pro Max/13 Mini
- 12/12 Pro/12 Pro Max/12 Mini
- 11/11 Pro
- XS/XS Max
- 8/8 Plus

And it will charge more than just phones. It also works with other devices with a USB-C port or Lightning port (depending on which version you buy) including wireless earbuds where it will use low power to charge the case / earbuds.
I have the USB-C version which measures approx. 7.5x5x2.5cm, making it small enough to fit in a pocket and take anywhere and everywhere with you, especially as it only weighs around 90g. It has a fixed protective cover to protect the USB-C connector from any damage and the front features an LED display so that you can monitor the power on the iWALK charger.
It is a very easy to use, and no need to look for the correct cable. To charge, you can plug it directly into a charger (cordless charging) or you can use a USB-C cable from a charger (wired charging). It takes approx. 1.5 hours to fully charge. To use it to charge your phone or other device you just plug it directly into the charging port on your device where it will start to charge straightaway. It uses PD Fast Charging at 18W to fast charge your phone. It also features pass-through charging so that you can charge the iWALK and your phone simultaneously so that you only need one mains outlet and one power cable (although this will slow down charging but is more convenient).

Overall, I love the iWALK LinkPod portable charger, I think that it is excellent for a quick emergency charge. It only has a 4800mAh battery so will only give most phones 1 full charge, which you would expect from the compact size of this pocket power bank. You can get power banks with a larger capacity, but these are bigger, bulkier and heavier, don’t fit neatly into a pocket and require cables. Due to its small size and weight, once the LinkPod is docked onto your phone, as you are free from trailing cables and can still easily use your phone without being tied to a wall socket.
I love how so easy it is to use. There is no need to hunt around looking for a USB cable or mains outlet, you just pop off the protective port cover (which stays attached to the device so that it doesn’t get lost) and plug the LinkPod directly into the charging port on your phone, earbuds or headphones. As soon as it is docked to the phone it starts to charge it. Whilst it is docked to the phone the LED display on the front of the LinkPod charger shows how much charge is left in the device, displayed as a numbered percentage. And when you have finished charging your device, you can just unplug the iWALK LinkPod or you can power it off by pressing the power button on the side twice.
When not plugged into your phone, if you want to see how much power is left in it you can press the power button on the side of the charger to turn on the LED display and see the remaining percentage (it turns off after a few seconds).
The iWALK LinkPod Portable Charger is a perfect smartphone accessory to keep our phones and other devices batteries topped up when we are out and about. Our phones are important to us, everything from calls and messages to maps, photos and paying for things in shops, so making sure we have enough power in them to last all day is a must and the iWALK LinkPod portable charger can help to achieve that.
I think that it is an excellent small and lightweight portable charger that provides a boost in power for your phone whilst on the move, without the need for cables or a mains outlet as the device just plugs directly into the charging socket.
I love the iWALK LinkPod fast charging portable charger. It is the perfect size to keep in your pocket or bag when going out for the day, helping you to top up your phone battery so that you can go through the day without worrying too much.
A must have smartphone accessory so that you can go about your day, enjoy the outdoors, without having to worry about your phone battery life.
