Insulated Food Jar

Giving kids a healthy nutritious meal is a must, but how do you do that while out and about? Eating out can be expensive. Making packed lunches doesn’t always work either – have you ever packed a lunch, only to find your soup has turned into a lukewarm disappointment by lunchtime? Or worse – your yogurt has decided to embrace room temperature like an overenthusiastic hug? With the b.box Insulated Food Jar, the worries about warm food going cold and cold food being too warm are over. The b.box Insulated Food Jar can keep food warm for up to 5 hours and cold food chilled for up to 7 hours.

The b.box Insulated Food Jar has been designed to keep your meals at the perfect temperature all day. It has a 335ml (11 fl oz) capacity and looks (to me anyway) like a large sippy cup with its handles on either side of the jar. Its stainless steel body helps to keep food warm for up to 5 hours or chilled for up to 7 hours. It is BPA-free, dishwasher safe (on the top rack) but it can’t be used in the microwave. It is suitable for children age 6 months plus with its large opening and handles and also perfect for older children, teens and adults as the handles and bumper base can be removed. The jar is vacuum sealed with an easy to open screw on/off leakproof lid. It stands approx. 15.5cm tall and 14cm wide (with handles on). It also comes with a spork that slots upright into base. Available in a choice of cool colours, there is a colour option to suit all styles.

The b.box Insulated Food Jar has some excellent features, notably the ability to keep food at the perfect temperature for hours with its triple layer insulation, but another excellent feature is the design. It features a removable silicone bumper on the base which helps stop slippage, it has two large easy grip handles for little hands and a screw on leakproof lid. The lid cannot be overtightened by adults and in conjunction with the handles the lid can be independently opened by children easily (although not so easily that it can easily come loose when transporting).

Once the lid is removed, the jar has a large opening which makes it easy to fill and more importantly, easy to eat from. It is recommended that when using the jar for warm food, for best performance fill the stainless steel base with hot water (not boiling) for a few minutes to warm it, then pour the water out and fill with delicious hot food.

And when it comes to cleaning it couldn’t be easier. Children aren’t the neatest of eaters and food will get all over it. The components that make up the jar; the stainless steel jar, the bumper, the handles and the lid, can all be easily removed for quick and simple cleaning. It is best washed by hand, although you can put the jar in the dishwasher on the top rack. There are no nasty crevices where food is going to get stuck and be hard to remove.

Insulated Food Jar

Overall, I think that the b.box Insulated Food Jar is excellent, whether you are using it with babies, toddlers, older children or even for yourself as an adult. It has been very well designed and it actually works, keeping food items warm/cold depending on what you put in it and for quite a few hours. And it really doesn’t leak – I have tried it with soup, that stayed warm and didn’t leak in my bag (and I also filled it with water and vigorously shook it with no leaks).

I love that it can be used with children from 6 months old and grows with them, being easily able to remove the handles (they twist off once the lid is removed) and pull off the silicone bumper, making it suitable for older children and teens going to school and even adults for their work lunch. It even has a small handle on top to make it easier to carry around. I also love the stop-lock mechanism that stops the lid being overtightened.

The colour options are great. I received mine in Indigo Rose (purple and pink), but there are 7 other colour options available on Amazon including Ocean Breeze (blue and green) and Strawberry Shake (pink and peach).

Whether you are packing a warm meal for a school dinner or for an outdoor adventure, or just a snack to keep you going until dinnertime, the b.box Insulated Food Jar delivers on both functionality and style. It’s durable, practical and delivers on being easy to use and keeping foods at the perfect temperature to get you from breakfast to lunch / lunch to dinner.
