Hunger waits for no one! When hunger hits, your need to feed the beast. While snacking between meals isn’t recommended, we all do it. So when you’re dashing between school runs, between meetings or maybe just tackling an afternoon adventure, snacking on the go is a must to keep those blood sugar levels up and help aid concentration. If you do snack between meals, try at least to make it a healthy snack (although for me, that’s easier said than done). But reaching into your bag looking for a snack to find it looking like it has completed 12 rounds of boxing leaving behind a trail of broken crumbs is so disappointing. b.box are an Australian company, founded by two mums who wanted better products when travelling with babies, and Baby Box (b.box) was formed.
The b.box Snackbox is a compact, two compartment mini bento box. It features an easy-to-latch lid with one side having a unique silicone stretch cover so that you can add a whole apple into the box (it stretches to accommodate the apple without squashing it). The stretch cover is also removable for easy cleaning. The lid is easy to open, perfect for the small hands of children and is leakproof. It has a good solid, durable design and is BPA free. The box measures approximately 16x11x6cm. On opening the lid there are two different size compartments – one about 8cm wide, the other about 6.5cm. It is perfect for storing cut fruit or a whole apple, nuts, crackers, or even yogurt.
Overall, this is an excellent little snackbox for kids, teens and adults. With big compartments, that are quite deep, there is enough room for a small, healthy snack to get you to lunch or dinner time. It features a long clip opening that doesn’t require too much pressure to open, so is easy for young children to operate.
The Snackbox can hold wet and dry foods without them leaking into the other compartment, or leaking from the box itself. The silicone cover is also great as it will stretch to accommodate a whole apple and can be easily removed for easy cleaning. At first, I found the silicone fairly difficult to put back in as I was trying to push it onto the inside of the lid – by pushing the stretchy bit out first to get that into place was much easier and then it just popped back into place, making the snackbox leakproof again.
I love that you can add a whole apple without needing to cut it up into smaller chucks, no more bruised or damaged apples rolling around in your bag that then become inedible.
Cleaning is a breeze, especially as the silicone seal is removable. It is best washed by hand by it can be put in dishwasher on the top rack.
The only small issue that I found with this box was that when opened you do need to push the lid all the way back, if you leave the lid in an upright position once weight starts to be removed from the compartments it will tip over.
The b.box Snackbox is available in a large range of colour options and at £9.99 it isn’t too expensive considering the quality and construction of the box. And it is a great size to keep in your bag for healthy snacking on the go.
