Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner

Now that spring has sprung and the days are slowly getting brighter, you might be starting to notice dust behind the appliances and furniture, which means it is coming up to that busy time of year again – Spring Cleaning! Yes, it’s that time of year where we all give our homes a deep clean and a complete refresh. Now you may have a list of deep-cleaning chores that you want to complete, but one that you may have overlooked is the lingering odour in the kitchen or utility room, which is possibly coming from the washing machine. It’s easy to forget that the very appliance responsible for keeping our clothes clean also needs a deep clean of its own. But help is at hand with specialised products like Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner, which promises to restore freshness, hygiene and efficiency with minimal effort. For anyone tackling a full spring clean, this product offers an appealing solution to one of the most overlooked household tasks.

Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner, available in Cotton Fresh, Lemon or Pink Grapefruit fragrances, is designed to give washing machines a thorough internal cleanse, targeting the build‑up of grime, detergent residue, those odours that accumulate over time and even dissolves hair (anyone with family members that have long hair knows that it gets everywhere – try cleaning the roller on the vacuum cleaner to see how much is there, so you can imagine how much gets caught up in the washing machine). According to the product listing, it’s formulated specifically for deep cleaning the machine rather than just masking smells, which is an important distinction for anyone who has tried quick‑fix solutions that only offer temporary freshness. The promise here is a cleaner drum, clearer pipes and a machine that runs more efficiently after treatment.

When it comes to actually cleaning the washing machine, it isn’t a simple wipe over with a cloth, but it is a simple and robust process with Vamoosh. The Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner comes in sachet form so there is no fiddling around with bottles or measuring caps. Tear open the sachet, pour the contents into the dispenser drawer and run a hot cycle. When finished its run, the machine is clean and fresh (with a scent that doesn’t affect future washing loads).

The Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner has a unique 6-in-1 action:

  • It dissolves hair
  • Eliminates bad odours
  • Prevents blockages
  • Eliminates limescale
  • Kills 99.9% bacteria
  • Removes dirt/detergent residues

Using the Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner is really easy – no solutions to make, no scrubbing needed. Simply empty one sachet of the granules into you washing machine drawer (usually the largest compartment where you normally add the soap powder), empty the machine of clothing and put it on for the longest wash and hottest temperature (if you aren’t interested in dissolving hair you can run at 60°, otherwise run at 85-95°). Let the machine run, you will see lots of foaming action in the drum as it goes through its cycles. When it finishes, everything should be a lot cleaner.

Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner

Overall, I think that the Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner was easy to use and did an excellent job. I have a habit of not wiping the door seal after every wash and I do end up regularly cleaning dirt, grime and odour every so often from the rubber seal. With the Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner it reduced a lot of this residue after just one wash, leaving it looking clean and smelling fresh, the drum sparkled like new and there was no foul odour coming back up through the sink. It did an excellent job of cleaning the drum, seal and, while I can’t physically check, as there was no odour from the waste I can only assume it helped clean the hose and pipes as well. It even claims to dissolve all that hair build-up (and there will be some as it will be on your clothes when you put them in the washer), but I will have to take their word for that as I have no way of checking.

While at £9.99 for 2 sachets (£5 per clean) it might seem a bit expensive, but it does reduce odour and slimy residues, and you probably only need to use it once a month to keep your machine in top condition – although if you have an old machine you might need two run throughs on first use to do a thorough clean. But going forward, regular cleaning and maintenance will help to prolong the life of your machine, which means less call-outs for repairs, so could actually save you money, so the price is more than justified and not really that high when you think about it.

I think that the Vamoosh Washing Machine Cleaner is a strong addition to any spring cleaning routine. It’s easy to use, has a pleasant scent and it is very effective at tackling all that hidden dirt, grime, soap residue and limescale buildup that that affects machine performance. For households that are looking to refresh their laundry routine, give their washing machine a good spring clean and extend the life of their appliance, it’s a worthwhile investment that delivers on its promises.
