Now that we have rapidly moved into April, the camping and caravanning season has begun – for some, it is the ultimate escape from the daily grind and a great way to relax and unwind. Whether you’re pitching a tent under a canopy of stars, parking your caravan in a scenic spot or visiting a static caravan site, there is always something magical about embracing the great outdoors. But the key to a successful trip is smart packing – being able to take everything you need in the smallest and lightest way possible – just remember to leave the kitchen sink at home. Whether you are going camping, caravanning, hiking, chilling on the beach, having a picnic in the park, relaxing in the garden or going to a summer festival, you will need various pieces of equipment but at some point you will need to sit down. Which brings me to the Vango Micro Chair, a compact lightweight marvel that promises comfort without compromising on space or quality.
The Vango Micro Chair is small in size but big on comfort. It’s the Swiss Army knife of portable camping chairs; compact, lightweight, and surprisingly versatile. At just 1.4kg, it’s lightweight enough to carry around everywhere with you. It only takes a few seconds to assemble, measuring 53x55x64cm when fully assembled. And it comfortably seats a maximum weight limit of 120kg (approx. 18st 12lbs). It comes supplied in its own carry bag and folds down small enough that it could fit in your backpack, while still leaving room for other camping essentials.
The Vango Micro Chair comes supplied in drawstring carry bag with a handle. The bag measures 15x15x40cm, so is very easy to transport – whether that is carrying the bag as it, throwing in a backpack or keeping it in the back of the car.

Assembling the chair is simple. Once opening the bag the chair is in two parts; the seat and the legs. The legs, or frame, are constructed from steel and are folded into smaller parts which have an elasticated string running through them that keeps them all together (no hunting around for what pole goes where). You just slot the ends of the poles into the plastic receivers and the frame is assembled in seconds. The seat, constructed from a strong and durable polyester fabric which has been designed for outdoor use, just slides over the four poles, it does require a bit of effort to get the last one on. When the seat is attached to the chair it is on quite tight but the seat itself has a bit of give in it while still keeping it tight to the frame.

As it is a micro frame the back is quite small (there is a high back version available) but it is very comfortable to sit in and does offer some back support.
Packing away is just as quick. Pop the seat off, pull the poles out of the plastic receivers and fold up – the poles have a handy elastic band that will hold them all neatly together. It then all fits neatly into the bag.
Overall, I found the Vango Micro Chair to be an excellent quality lightweight and comfortable portable camping chair.
It is very quick to assemble and is lightweight and small enough for easy transportation, whatever the occasion. It’s steel frame is strong and durable and the fabric seat is thick and strong while being comfortable to sit in for long periods while being very steady on the ground. The seat is a good size, accommodating people up to 120kg (although I only weigh about 85kg so can only guarantee that).
- Portability: This chair is so light and compact, you might forget you’re carrying it – until you sit down and thank yourself for bringing it along.
- Durability: Built to withstand the elements, the Vango Micro Chair is as tough as your camping spirit.
- Ease of Use: Setting it up is a breeze, even for those who struggle assembling flatpack furniture.
- Versatility: Whether you’re camping, caravanning, or just enjoying a picnic in the park, this chair fits right in.
- Weather Resistance: The materials are made to endure outdoor conditions, so it won’t let you down when the weather takes a turn (as the British weather inevitably will).
The Vango Micro Chair is a must-have for anyone who values comfort and convenience on their outdoor activities. It’s practical and stylish, strong and durable, proving that good things really do come in small packages.
