Overall, the Marksman Portable Gas Cooker is a lightweight, efficient, very portable and extremely easy to use. It heats up quickly and evenly heats a pan placed on it. It is very versatile with its carry case (although the plastic carry case could do with being a bit thicker / stronger, I think it is a bit a flimsy and have already cracked by knocking it over).
Using it is simple. The gas canister is easy to insert (when the cooker is turned out completely) under the gas can cover. Ignition is quick and easy with no matches needed, it has an electric ignition, just turn the knob until you hear it clicking and then ignite. Once ignited, the flame can be controlled and adjusted easily by turning the knob.
It is not as cheap as using one gas burner on your home cooker, costing about £1 per hour to run. It burns approx. 150g gas per hour on nominal heat (a butane gas canister for this cooker is 227g and costs approx. £1.60 per can depending on how many you buy – vastly cheaper if you buy 28 cans).
Whether for outdoor use, for camping trips, picnics, barbeques, caravanning etc. or as a backup cooker for the home in case of a power failure, it is very easy to use, reliable, has great adjustable heat and cooks evenly. It is very light and compact and has user-friendly features and safety functions (automatic safety shut-off and gas canister insertion lock). It also feature a wind shield to protect the flame.
