The sun is shining, mostly, the fresh air is calling and it’s time for a much needed break and disconnecting from a hectic world – time to head off into the wilderness and enjoy the natural world. Except, that it is isn’t just a case of bringing a tent and a sleeping bag and heading off to the nearest forest! Camping involves lots of equipment, and whether you’re a seasoned camper or weekend adventurer, you need the right gear. But don’t want to carrying excessive amounts of equipment. Camping requires tools, whether that is to hammer in tent pegs into the ground, cut kindling to make a fire, tightening loose screws on other equipment or just opening bottles and cans. You need a multi-tool such as the Giriaitus Camping Multi-tool with its 16 tools all in one tool. It can be worn on your belt and is lightweight enough to carry around while still being versatile and durable to carry out a multitude of tasks.
There are lots of multi-tools that you can buy, but they are geared up for different tasks. The Giriaitus Camping Multi-tool is perfect for camping, hiking, fishing trips or even survival in emergency situations. It features the usual saw blade, knife, bottle opener, an array of screwdrivers and pliers that you would expect to find on most other multi-tools but this one also features a small axe, a hammer, a fire starter and even a whistle. It is a perfect for helping to put up tents and shelters, starting a fire for warmth and cooking, and quick repairs of equipment. This tool has got you covered for any unexpected situation you might encounter in the wild or even at home.
The Giriaitus Camping Multi-tool measures 16x9x2.2cm (approx.). It is supplied in a nylon sheath that clips shut and attaches to your belt using a belt loop. It also features a smaller nylon sheath for the axe blade, which also snaps shut. And it only weighs approx. 440g without the nylon sheaths and approx. 470g with them.
The axe head and hammer are fixed at the top of the handle but the rest of the tools are built into the handle. The handle opens out for the needle-nose and pipe pliers which also feature a wire cutter, the knife (not a locking blade) pulls out from the handle (below the axe head) and also has a saw and the back end of the knife. Opposite the knife, the file, bottle opener and flathead screwdriver also pull out from the handle. Three screwdriver bits (2 cross head and 1 flathead) are also hidden within the handle and push out in a tray that contains the bits, the bit you want to use is then inserted into the top of the axe / hammer head (you will see the socket for it) and is pulled in magnetically. Also in the handle of the pliers is a pull out and removeable whistle and firestarter (magnesium rod).
The Giriaitus Camping Multi-tool has every tool you need to survive in the great outdoors, from sawing small branches, cutting kindling and shaving wood to start a fire using the magnesium rod by shaving it with the axe. You can also hammer in tent pegs or nail plastic sheeting to trees for shelter and make emergency repairs of any equipment, cut fishing line etc. And it isn’t just for camping – it is also great at home or in the car (you could use the hammer to break a window in case of an emergency for example) and it would be ideal to keep in an emergency grab and go bag.
Overall, this is a fantastic little multi-tool that is versatile, rugged and robust enough for a variety of different uses, whether you are out hiking, camping or just doing the odd small job at home. It is solidly constructed from stainless steel and has a fantastic range of tools. And despite it being lightweight enough to wear on your belt, it is surprisingly heavy enough to make using the axe and hammer worthwhile and get the job done.
It isn’t perfect; the saw blade is a bit too small and I would have like to see it as a separate tool rather than at the back end of the knife blade, and the rubber cover that covers the axe blade is next to useless as the it arrived with the sharpness of the blade having already cut through it (maybe a thicker plastic cover would work better?). But other that that, it is great for getting things done when you don’t have a full toolkit with you, and is certainly a useful tool for camping and emergency bags.
I like the Giriaitus Camping Multi-tool, it is compact, versatile, and robust – built to last. Whether you’re setting up camp, needing to make quick repairs, or just want the peace of mind that comes with having a range of tools at your fingertips, this multi-tool could be just what you’re looking for.
Great for handling the rigors of the great outdoors.
