Phlat Ball

The sun is out, proud and shining down, the grass has been freshly cut and it’s a really lovely warm day. What are you doing sitting indoors? It’s time to get outside and enjoy the sun and the fresh air while it lasts. Why not pop to the park with the kids and throw a ball or frisbee around, or better still, combine the two and play both? How about throw a disc but catch a ball! No, I’m not dreaming, you can with the Wahu Phlat Ball Classic!

The Phlat Ball Classic miraculously turns from disc to ball when thrown! So squash it flat, toss it to your mate and enjoy the dual-action fun of flinging a disc, then catching ball!

The Phlat Ball, or is that flat ball, is a plastic ball that squashes nearly flat and miraculously turns from a disc to ball during its flight through the air when thrown! A superb way to have some outdoor fun whilst the sun shines.

A great outdoor toy that adds that something different to your outdoor play. In its disc form, it has a diameter of 9”. In its ball form, it has a diameter of 6”. It is available in 3 colour options (bright blue, cool green, or fiery red) and is suitable for players aged 5 years plus.

Playing with the Phlat Ball is easy. Squash it flat into a disc shape (it has two suckers inside to pull it together) and then just throw it as you would a frisbee. As the disc takes flight and travels through the air at some point the suckers release and the disc magically transforms into a ball – you never know when it will happen.

Phlat Ball

The Phlat Ball is made of a soft but sturdy flexible plastic that makes it very easy to squash phlat (flat). It is lightweight and very easy to grip so that players of all ages can easily throw and catch it. Being plastic, it is also waterproof. It is also very durable, standing up to hitting the ground when other players fall to catch it.

Overall, the Phlat Ball is a fun throwing / catching toy to play with. Initially it needs to warm up whilst playing with it or you can speed up the process by leaving it out in the sun or run it under a hot tap for it to fully pop open. Once it warms up properly it is great fun throwing the disc and watching it pop open mid-flight into a ball shape for another player to catch. In its frisbee form it is easy to throw, whilst in ball form it is easier to catch, especially for younger players. Just be aware, the ball is not for kicking about as it could damage it and make it unusable as a throwing disc.

It is split into five segments that are easy to grip. We received ours in cool green and by pushing in the blue circle in the centre (with the Wahu logo) closes the suckers and turns it into a disc, this is so easy to do and does not require a lot of strength, so even the youngest of players can do it. The Phlat Ball features ergonomic indented grooves and ridges in the surface of the disc-ball that make it very easy to grip, throw and catch.

It is a good size to put in a bag to take to the park or beach, although I would recommend putting an elastic band around it to stop it popping open in your bag.

The Phlat Ball is a fun and interesting toy to have some fun in the garden or park and having some active outdoor play. We have been playing with it on grass and whilst it has hit the ground a lot it hasn’t got damaged in any way – although I couldn’t say how it would hold up on a more solid surface.

A simple toy that is fun to play with. It squashes phlat and pops open easily and quickly. Just try to keep the suckers free from dirt and debris for maximum performance.

Great family fun for outdoor play. Throw a frisbee, but what will you catch?
