Emergency Rain Poncho

Living in the UK, one of our favourite topics of conversation is the weather. Just like Forrest Gump and his box of chocolates, “you never know what you’re gonna get”! How often have you left home in blazing sunshine only to be caught out by a very sudden and heavy downpour? Well, we are now in the summer months (apparently) and a lot of you might be thinking of your holidays. Some might be going abroad, some might be having a staycation, others might be considering a camping or hiking getaway and some might just be having a series of days out with the kids. Whatever you are doing, I’m sure that you will love it. But you can never count of the weather! Whatever the situation, whether its days out, shopping, holidays, camping, hiking or just the car breaking down, keeping an emergency rain poncho in your bag or car is a smart move for several reasons:

  • Staying Dry: The primary purpose of a rain poncho is to keep you dry during those unexpected downpours. It’s lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry without taking up much space in your bag.
  • Heat Retention: An emergency rain poncho is designed to retain up to 90% of body heat, making it an excellent choice for cold and wet conditions. This feature helps prevent hypothermia, which is crucial during emergencies.
  • Gear Protection: You can also use it to protect your gear from getting wet. This is especially useful if you’re carrying electronics or other items that need to stay dry.
  • Outdoor Activities: For hikers, campers, and outdoor enthusiasts, an emergency rain poncho is handy backup rain gear. It can keep you dry, keep you warm with its thermal properties and its bright orange colour will make sure that you get noticed.
  • Versatility: An emergency rain poncho can be used in various ways beyond just keeping you dry. It can serve as a makeshift shelter, a ground tarp, or even a windbreaker.
  • Convenience: Its compact size means you can easily store it in your bag, car, or emergency kit bag. It’s always there when you need it, providing peace of mind.

This emergency rain poncho is heavy duty rain cover with a hood that you can quickly pull on over you. Not only does it help to keep the wearer dry, its thermal properties also help to keep them warm when the temperature drops and is even wind resistant. It is bright orange in colour so ensures that you are easily noticed (perfect for camping, hiking or just standing by the side of the road in the event of a breakdown).

Emergency Rain Poncho

This emergency rain poncho is a versatile, lightweight, and essential item that can help you stay prepared for various situations. It is made from 28µm thick thermal PE material, the poncho is both tear-resistant and weather-resistant, and it’s built to withstand harsh conditions without falling apart.

It measures 130cm x 100cm when opened fully (excluding the hood), and is one size fits all and will cover the wearer and their backpack easily, although for small adults and children it can be a bit big (but still keeps the rain off). With reinforced seams and is very durable, the material helps to prevent punctures or tears. And its reusable and only weighs 80g.

Overall, this is a very handy emergency rain poncho to keep with you, taking up very little space when folded and easily fits most people, even if they are carrying a backpack. It does an excellent job of keeping you dry and retains and reflects body heat to keep you warm (just like those silver blankets you see athletes wearing after running a marathon). It is also big enough to use as a ground sheet or picnic blanket.

Keeping an emergency rain poncho handy for sudden emergencies and weather conditions is a great idea. It folds up quite small so easily fits in a backpack, glovebox or even a pocket and it does an excellent job of keeping you dry, warm and protected against harsh weather conditions while its orange colouring ensures you will be noticed. A solid choice for emergency preparedness and outdoor activities.

It’s a practical and affordable addition to any emergency kit.
