Edifier are well-known for their stylish designs, good sound quality and budget-friendly pricing for premium quality audio equipment. The W830NB fit into that quite nicely. The sleek design of these headphones exudes a minimalist charm that appeals to both audiophiles and casual listeners alike. They are available in three colours, black, grey and sand white, and weighing in at around 267g. These lightweight headphones have a very durable, high-quality build and are built for comfort without compromising on durability. The ergonomic design ensures that you can enjoy long listening sessions without any discomfort, making them an ideal companion for your daily commute or a relaxing evening at home.

The W830NB are truly wireless headphones, no messy trailing wires to get caught anywhere (although you can also use them wired if the battery runs out using the supplied USB-C cable). They are over the ear headphones, which means they fully cup the ears rather than sit on them. And they are so comfortable. The headphones have an adjustable strap with a padded centre that sits comfortably on top of your head. They also feature foldable earpads that make them easier to travel with in a bag. And if you wear glasses (like me), they still offer supreme comfort, I’m using the headphones while writing this and had to check I had my glasses on and not my contacts in.

They use Bluetooth for the wireless connection, up to 33ft / 10 meters between the headphones and your playback devise (phone, tablet, laptop etc.). Utilising the latest Bluetooth version 5.4 technology they give a stable, faster transmission speed, stronger anti-interference capabilities, and lower power consumption. They are simple to pair to different devices with the push of a button. Equipped with multi-point connection they can be paired to two different devices with easy switching between the two devices (you can be listening to music on your laptop or tablet and switch to take a call on your phone).

When it comes to all-important sound quality, they really do not disappoint. They are equipped with 40mm titanium-played dynamic drivers and an independent acoustic chamber layout, delivering crisp highs, detailed mids, and deep bass. Whether you’re streaming the latest hits or revisiting your favourite classics, the sound quality is consistently impressive across various genres. Certified for both Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless standards, the W830NB ensures that you experience music the way artists intended.

They also support the LDAC codec for high-definition decoding giving the listener Hi-Res Wireless audio, transmitting at a transfer rate of 990kbps, which offers three times the music detail of standard Bluetooth codecs. This allows you to enjoy a high-resolution audio experience.

And while you are out and about or in a very busy noisy environment you still want to be able to fully enjoy what you are listening to. That’s where the active noise cancellation (ANC) comes into play. With up to -45dB noise reduction, these headphones effectively block out ambient noise, allowing you to immerse yourself in your audio world fully. Multiple ANC modes (high noise cancellation, medium noise cancellation, wind reduction and ambient sound ) cater to different environments, so whether you’re in a bustling airport or a quiet library, you can tailor your listening experience to your surroundings. They are excellent at reducing unwanted external background noises, I really notice it on windy days!

As well as great sound quality and comfortable wearing, these headphones have an excellent battery life. Battery life is variable depending on your own choice of settings, but it you have the ANC off and the volume at 80% you can get up to 94 hours continuous music playback, now that’s impressive! If you were to have the ANC on, this would drop to 54 hours, but that’s still more than enough for the working week!

Now that I have touched on the impressive battery life, let’s talk about charging. Charging is via USB-C. Just plug them into your laptop, phone charger, USB wall socket etc. using the supplied cable. No power adapter is supplied (we all have loads of these). Charging takes approx. 1.5 hours to fully charge, which gives you up to 94 hours usage (depending on your chosen settings). And they also have a fast charge; a 15 minutes charge with give you up to 10 hours usage, so you really never should be without enough charge through the day.

The features don’t stop there. For those that like to walk and talk, handsfree, you can even chat away on phone calls with crystal clear clarity.  The W830NB features Deep Neural Network (DNN) noise reduction technology, they intelligently recognise speech and precisely separate human voices from noise, enabling you to talk clearly even on noisy streets.

Still not convinced? If you are a gamer, well they also have a gaming mode. With a 0.08s low latency and game sound effects, it allows you to synchronise your audio experience with the action you see on the screen, providing a more exciting and immersive gaming experience. You can actually hear the footsteps creeping up behind you BEFORE you get shot!

To make the most of these headphones you really should download the free Edifier ConneX app. This app gives you access to the settings, user manual and opens up a world of customisation. Within the app you will find three preset equalizer options, or you can customise your own, to enhance your listening experience. You can also control the sound modes, sound effects, codec settings or you can even use the app to find your headphones (emits a loud beep). Using the app enriches the functionality of these headphones.

Overall, I love the Edifier W830NB wireless headphones. The comfort, audio quality and features are just excellent. And as for the very impressive battery life, well who needs more, it gets me through the whole week (with or without ANC enabled). A remarkable blend of quality, functionality, and affordability. A shining example of how high-end quality and features can be made available in a budget-friendly package.

They have a very minimalistic design and look great. You can change volume, skip tracks, answers calls can change modes by pressing the buttons on the right earpad.

The lightweight stylish design ensures that they look great and don’t feel heavy on your head or ears. They really do feel comfortable, even when wearing for extended periods of time.

While listening to music or watching video has excellent crisp and clear audio quality (I actually heard detail that I couldn’t hear listening to the same track without headphones), so does phone call quality. The quality of phone calls is just fantastic, even when walking down busy streets. You and your caller can clearly hear all of the conversation without interference.

I think that the Edifier W830NB are a fantastic pair of wireless headphones. They have very impressive features, superb battery life, sound remarkable and all without an massive price tag, at under £80 they are excellent value for money.  When considering your next pair of headphones, these are a fantastic choice. They offer superb value, features and comfort, a solid option for both casual listeners and audiophiles on a budget.
