Our homes can be a minefield of hazards with trips, falls, burns and that’s just the adults. Add in young children that like to explore and examine their surroundings and everything becomes a hazard. Take the simple plug socket for example, something we all use every to plug in our phone chargers, laptops and other electrical devices. We plug in without giving the socket a second thought, but to young children with curious minds and fingers it can become very dangerous – the combination of children and electricity can be a very dangerous mix. When looking at your home safety options, and there are many of them, one of the starting points should be socket protectors. Socket protectors are excellent for stopping children from playing with electrical sockets and putting things in them and if you get a socket protector cover rather than a plug in socket protector, it not only stops the curious fingers playing with the socket but also stops essential equipment, fridge freezer for example, from being accidentally switched off.
The Clippasafe Socket Protector Cover is a plastic socket cover for single and double wall sockets, that prevents easy access to wall sockets. It is easy to fit, without removing the socket faceplate – no drilling or exposing live electric cables.
Key Features:
- Prevents Unplugging/Accidental Switch Offs: The Socket Protector prevents anyone from accidentally unplugging electrical equipment or switching off equipment.
- Covers Exposed Sockets: It covers any exposed electrical plug sockets, ensuring that curious little fingers can’t access them.
- Quick and Easy Installation: The Socket Protector is simple to install and can be conveniently fitted to both single and double wall sockets.
- No Need to Remove Wall Sockets: An additional safety feature is that it doesn’t require the removal of the wall socket during installation.
- Safe Opening: Access to the sockets and plugs is gained by pressing buttons on each side of the unit.
Clippasafe’s Socket Protector is designed for use with BSI approved UK style three pin electric wall mounted sockets, switched or unswitched. It is not suitable for sockets with surface mounted pattress boxes (a socket box that is screwed on to the wall), or for use outdoors.
Overall, the Clippasafe Socket Protector is an excellent plug socket cover that clips shut and prevents children playing with, or putting things in the plug sockets. It is also perfect for preventing accidental disconnection of vital household, office and specialist equipment such as fridges, freezers, computers, aquariums, TVs, DVD Players, satellite receivers and recorders as the can’t be switched on/off or unplugged without opening the box.
The socket protecter covers the whole socket plate and can be fitted to single as well as double UK style wall sockets. I like that it is easily installed without having to remove the wall plate or having to disconnect any wires – you just unscrew the wall plate slightly and place the two parts of the socket cover behind it until the two parts clip together and then tighten the screws again. And it comes with detailed, illustrated instructions on how to fit and use.
Once the socket protector is fixed to the socket, access to the socket and plugs is gained by pressing buttons on each side of the unit, stopping curious little fingers from opening it easily and stopping anybody accidently knocking a switch, plug or unplugging something. When the buttons are depressed the cover lifts upwards so that you have full access to the sockets, switches or plugs and then clips back into place when finished with.
The Clippasafe Socket Protector is a fantastic simple piece of equipment for home safety and baby proofing measures around the home. They provide peace of mind for parents by ensuring electrical safety without compromising convenience. They are a practical addition to any home safety measures in any home, and I like that they look better on the wall than plugs in the sockets.
