As the saying goes, “Our eyes are our windows to the world”, allowing us to experience the beauty and wonder around us. And like all windows, they need care and attention, Yet, we often take them for granted until something goes wrong. Our eyes get dry and tired from staring into screens all day as well as getting irritated from smoke and other environmental irritants. Proper eye care is essential for maintaining good vision and overall health. Regular eye check-ups, a balanced diet, and using the right eye care products can make a significant difference. One effective way to care for our eyes is using eye drops and TheraTears have a range for different situations which I have been trying.
TheraTears eye drops are designed to provide relief for dry and irritated eyes while helping to reduce strain, hydrate the eyes, protect and soothe them and even help whiten them.
I have been trying out the TheraTears Dry & Tired eye drops, Irritation & Redness eye drops and the Screen Eyes eye drops. Each product has been specially formulated to alleviate different symptoms. And they are contact lens friendly, which is perfect for me.
Dry or Tired Eye Drops

- Relieves
- Hydrates
- Protects
- Soothes
- Refreshes
We all get dry or tired eyes from time to time. Generally I do if I have had my contact lenses in for too long. Near the end of the day, when wearing my contact lens, my eyes tend to get sore, dry and itchy. Removing the lenses and putting on my glasses helps, but not immediately (it also happens when pollen is high or in places with air conditioning). After removing my lenses, a drop of the Dy or Tired eye drops provides near instant relief for the soreness and itching while hydrating my eyes.
The Dry or Tired eye drops are naturally hydrating and soothing using naturally derived ingredients, including hyaluronic acid 0.15%. This lubricating substance is found in various areas of the body, including the eyes, joints and skin. It helps to restore and retain eye moisture. The drops also contain witch hazel, known for its soothing properties, as well as Ginkgo biloba, which helps to protect the eyes by combatting the effects of free radicals. And the drops are also contact lens friendly – if I did want to put my contacts back in I just add a few drops to each lens and pop them back in. And they make your eyes look more refreshed and alive by helping to whiten the eyes.
Irritation & Redness Eye Drops

- Relieves irritation
- Reduces redness
- Eases stinging
- Whitens
- Protects
Now, eye drops are eye drops, surely? They all soothe and reduce irritation. Why different drops for similar eye issues? Well, they do have different formulations to deal with different problems. The TheraTears Irritation & Redness eye drops contain:
- Euphrasia, also known as eyebright, a natural plant extract which helps to relieve redness and swelling.
- Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in many parts of the body and can work to lubricate your eyes.
Again, these drops are contact lens friendly and yes, they do help reduce red, swollen and irritated eyes whether from pollution, smoke or just staring into the screen too long. And like the Dry or Tired eyes, also help whiten the eyes and make them look more refreshed. And happily for me, they can also be used with contact lenses.
Screen Eyes Eye Drops

- Reduce eye strain
- Relieve irritation
- Refresh
- Hydrate
- Whiten
I have a very bad habit of sitting at the laptop and getting lost in whatever I’m working on, losing track of time, until my eyes get fatigued and force me to take a break (and if it’s not a screen it is generally reading a book for long periods). And a lot of us are guilty of that (a 2022 study carried out by the University of Leeds concluded that 50% of adults spend 11 hours or more a day on average looking at screens). Screen use causes lots of eye strain, which is why you should take a short break or do something else regularly.
Screen Eyes also contain hyaluronic acid 0.1% and Euphrasia, helping to moisten the eyes and keep them fresh while helping to reduce eye strain and irritation. And, you’ve guessed it, the drops are also suitable for contact lens wearers.
It doesn’t matter what TheraTears drops you use, they are all gentle on the eyes, effective and easy to use. But more importantly, a drop or two provides quick relief without causing irritation.
Overall, the TheraTears range of eye drops are very gentle and highly effective, providing long-lasting relief for dry, tired and sore or itching eyes. The small bottles are easy to carry with you and are easy to use with a quick squeeze of the bottle delivering a drop directly into the eye.
I am terrible at adding drops to my eyes, and since looking at the TheraTears website realised where I going so wrong – there is a technique to doing it properly and TheraTears have a very helpful guide to show how to do it effectively without the drops running down your face.
I have found the three types of TheraTears eye drops that I have tried very effective and soothing, whether wearing my contact lenses or not. They are a reliable and gentle solution for reducing dry and irritated eyes while hydrating and refreshing the eyes.
At £5.99 for a 10ml bottle they are not the cheapest of eye drops, but they are also not the most expensive – they are still cheaper than what I get from my opticians and are just as effective. The TheraTears drops are also preservative-free or contain a preservative that breaks down as soon as it comes into contact with your eye, making them kinder to eyes, even for people with sensitive eyes.
I find the TheraTears very refreshing and soothing and like that there are different formulated drops for a variety of situations. I will definitely be swapping my optician drops to TheraTears and keeping some in my bathroom cabinet.
