When I’m out and about I prefer to use truly wireless earbuds, with my favourite being the Edifier W320TN Noise Cancellation Wireless Earbuds. But when I am home, for some reason I do mostly prefer to wear wireless headphones and have been trying out Edifier’s W820NB Plus Over-Ear Wireless Headphones – active noise cancelling, hi-res audio, Bluetooth stereo headphones.
The Edifier W820NB Plus Wireless Headphones are a pair of active noise cancelling, hi-res audio, Bluetooth over-ear stereo headphones and are available in several colour options (black, blue, green, grey and ivory). They feature support for LDAC coding, certification of Hi-Res Audio Wireless, 40mm dynamic driver with Titanium coated composite diaphragm for crystal clear listening and up to 49 hours of playtime (using Bluetooth v5.2 and ANC turned off / 33 hours with ANC turned on).

Overall, I am a big fan of Edifier and the W820NB Plus are another excellent pair of headphones. They are perfect for listening to music, gaming, streaming videos and taking hands-free telephone calls. The comfort of the soft headband strap and the ear pads is perfect, extremely comfortable even with extended use. The ear pads fit snuggly against your head whilst being extremely comfortable without too much pressure, and cover the entire ear. While the fit and comfort is perfect, the sound is much better – rich, clear and crisp with a perfect crystal clear microphone so that when on telephone calls the caller can hear you just as well as if you were standing next to them.
Using the headphones is simple. They are no wires to get in the way of anything (unless you decide to use the USB connection rather than wireless) and they feature four buttons on the right ear cup to let you manage most functions by pressing different buttons once or twice or holding buttons for 3 to 6 seconds: pair with devices, change volume levels, skip tracks, answer calls, change modes (ANC, Ambient and Game Mode). The ear cups even fold inwards so they can be laid flat on a table etc. If you download the free Edifier app you have even more control and customisation (including listening to soothing sounds and viewing battery levels).
The ANC mode is superb, it has been improved over the previous version of these headphones going from 38dB to 43dB. With it enabled it does an excellent job of blocking out external sounds so that you get the optimal listening experience, and it is easy to switch to ambient mode when out and about so that you can still listen out for traffic noise or station announcement etc. With the ANC enabled you do have a considerably shorter battery life than when it is turned off (33 hours as opposed to 49 hours).
Whilst they have an excellent battery life, with ANC enabled or disabled, they have a rechargeable battery with is easy to charge. Charging is via a USB-C cable and a full charge takes around 1.5 hours. In a hurry? – a 10 minute charge will give you up to 7 hours of use. And you can still use them as a wired pair of headphones whilst charging them on a computer.
I love that if you do happen to run out of battery, you can still use them as a wired USB set on a computer and charge them at the same time – just plug the USB cable into the headphones and computer and you can charge whilst still listening to your favourite music, streaming your favourite TV show or videos or playing your favourite game. It just gives them that little bit extra versatility.
I think that the Edifier W820NB Plus Wireless Headphones are excellent. I love their understated look and the different colour options are great (I usually go for black, but the light blue version that I have is fantastic). Like all Edifier products I have tried, they feel and look extremely good quality, durable and well-constructed. The battery life is excellent, with up to 2 full days of constant use – they will certainly get you through a few days before needing charging, no matter what mode you use them in or settings that you use, and the crystal clear sound quality is sublime.
I find changing tracks, increasing/decreasing the volume or answering/rejecting phone calls is very easy by using the minimalistic buttons on the earcup (or through the app).
The Edifier W820NB Plus Over-Ear Wireless Headphones are a very comfortable and enjoyable set of lightweight headphones (approx. 221g), with a superior listening experience. At under £80, they are an excellent quality set of wireless headphones, packed with great features, that are well worth the price tag.
They are perfect for indoor or outdoor use and great when travelling and the ANC is perfect for blocking external noises, allowing you to enjoy the outdoors in peace.
