Photowall

I have been slowly changing the look of my home and redecorating. I thought that I had finished with the living room after painting the walls, adding new curtains and cushions etc. but decided that one of the walls was missing something, something quirky and unique, it just looked too plain. After thinking about options for the wall, I decided that I wanted some wall art in the form of a print or canvas to take away some of the empty space. Already having some framed photos, framed comic art and a clock on the opposite wall I wanted something different and larger. Photowall are experts in wall art and offer a wide range of wall coverings, from posters to wallpaper, to inspire and choose from. After browsing their website over a few days I decided that a poster print would be perfect and decided that although I now live in Manchester I wanted something from where I grew up and loved the look of the Vintage London Poster Print.

Photowall’s photo prints are available in square, portrait or landscape, with or without borders, with or without wooden hanging kits, and in a variety of sizes with prices starting from £19

Photowall are an established wall art company based in Sweden and offer 1000s of high quality, creative and customisable wall art designs from their own stock images or your own photos, on canvas, posters, wall murals, featured wallpaper and framed prints. Their website has images for every occasion from animals to vintage including children, world maps, forest scenes, city skylines (London, New York, etc.), Star Wars, Disney, Elvis, art & design and a whole lot more.

As I already mentioned, I ordered the Vintage London Poster Print in the 70x50cm landscape size and with a hanging kit. This is available in portrait or landscape, with or without a white border and in a variety of sizes from 25x25cm to 118.9×84.1cm. You can also purchase it with or without a hanging kit or with a poster frame. Orders are shipped with free shipping in 1-4 days.

Ordering from the website is a very simple process and orders can be paid for by credit/debit card, Paypal or Klarna. Shipping is free with DHL 5-7 day delivery and orders are despatched in 1-4 days (you can pay extra for faster 1-2 day shipping). I received my order 4 days after it was shipped. I was kept informed by email as to the shipping progress and provided with a tracking number.

The poster arrived well packaged. It was rolled up in tissue paper and placed in a cardboard tube. The poster tube and the hanging kit were then placed in a durable corrugated cardboard box that was the correct size, no excessive packing. All their boxes are sustainably sourced, made from wholly or partially recycled material and the only additive is starch.

When the poster arrived, the hanging kit needs fixing to the poster. This is a simple process. The handing kit is wooden battens for the top and bottom on the poster with a hanging string on the top. It also comes supplied with a wall hook. The wooden battens are simple to fit. They pull apart and you place one each side of the poster, they are magnetically held together to keep the poster in place and also give it a bit of weight on the wall.

The quality of the paper is extremely good, you can see and feel how high quality it is. The paper is a 200 g/m² premium age-resistant paper. The print is also UV-resistant. The image is striking. The vintage look is excellent, with its iconic images associated with London; Sherlock Holmes, Big Ben and The Tower of London. The red colouring of the word London, the iconic Red Phone Box, a double-decker London Bus and sports car is really vibrant and stands out, giving the poster a nice splash of colour against the vintage theme. The print is very clear, sharp and the matte finish (rather than the glossy photo finish I expect from posters) was excellent. And the inks used in printing are all biodegradable, free from solvents and harmful chemicals, so very eco-friendly.

Once on the wall, the image was very striking and eye-catching, and it finished off the room perfectly, filling the empty wall space nicely (I think if I wasn’t putting it above the television I would have definitely opted for a much larger size.

I am extremely happy with the poster. The quality is excellent, and it was so easy to hang, I love the magnetic hanging kit so that the poster doesn’t get damaged. It really does take the blank, plain look off the wall and makes the room much warmer, inviting and interesting (the poster is also a great conversation starter).

Photowall offer a lot of choice on their website with a variety of images in different sizes and mountings, they even do wallpaper for a feature wall. Poster prints start from £19 and you can use Photowall’s thousands of stock images or even upload your own.

I will definitely be using Photowall again, I will be redecorating my bedroom soon and have already been looking to see if there is something that I want, I still haven’t decided on an image or whether to go for a canvas, wallpaper or another poster.

I would whole-heartedly recommend Photowall and their quality prints.
