We don’t want to be the same as everybody else. Each and every one of us was born different and we all have our own unique likes, tastes and styles, our own individuality – it’s what makes us who we are. We try to be different from everybody else in the way that we dress, the way that we style our hair, the music, films and books we like and even in the way that we decorate our homes. Whilst lots of homes may look the same on the outside, especially with new builds, we can add our touch of quirkiness inside and make them unique and very different from our neighbours and friends, and more importantly, our own. When a house is truly a home it shows who we are so the decoration and accessorising of each and every room is very important to give them they own individual character that shows off our own personality and our own very unique quirkiness.
That’s where the little finishing touches can really set our homes apart from the rest. The unusual, fun and quirky accessories can really make the rooms in our homes stand out. We can give our rooms a character of their own to match our own unique style and tastes, and even make them into a talking point with guests.
I have been trying out a range of home accessories that are just that little bit different and even unique, to give my home just a small bite of fun quirkiness. Hopefully reading my reviews will provide a little bit of inspiration to individualise your own home, just as my little friend in the bathroom, Baabara the Sheep, does (she is a fun novelty toilet roll holder).
Then there is the steampunk water pipe desk lamp in my home office that is an piece of art all in its self, whilst still being fun and functional desk furniture. Or if you have Minecraft fans in the house, add a customisable desk lamp of their own, where there can move light blocks around and build their own design just as they would in the game. And why stop there? Add a colour changing smart bulb and change the mood and lighting effects in your home whenever you fancy.
Change your phone charger to one that not only charges your phone but backs up all of your precious photos and videos at the same time.
And don’t forget to liven up the kitchen with fun and colourful kitchen knives that not brighten up the room but help prepare food in a safe way.
Some of these items you might just fall in love with. Some you might grow to love. And there will be some that just won’t be for you. But one thing they will all have in common is that they will be individual, functional, quirky and fun.
Take a look at the rooms in your home and give them a bit of a refresh. Add your own individual style and fall back in love with them again. It only takes some small touches to make a big difference to any room. Those tasteful quirky items will look great and be an excellent topic of conversation. Just don’t go overboard in your quest to be different – subtle and understated can be more powerful and create a bigger statement than brash and in your face, look at me flamboyance.
Stamp your authority and personality throughout your home, room to room – from the smallest room to the largest, with the way you choose to decorate, furnish and accessorise them.
