Most homes will have a torch of some description buried in a cupboard or drawer at home, if not you should do. A torch is a household essential, especially if the power goes off. The GEARLITE Rechargeable LED Torch is a super bright LED torch that requires you to keep no spare batteries on hand, although you might want to regularly charge it so that you know you will always have light in a power cut. It is USB-C rechargeable and comes supplied with a USB cable that you can plug into a USB wall plug, USB wall charger, laptop, power bank etc.
As a front beam torch it is super bright with a long reach, reaching up to 100 metres in front of you. The beam can also be dropped to 30% brightness. As a lantern, the 360° light is also super bright when on 100% and can also be dropped down to 30% brightness (which is still very bright). You can also put the lantern into emergency mode – a bright red solid light or a flashing red light to alert others.
It isn’t a big torch, it measures 8.38 x 8.38 x 16.76cm and weighs around 400g. Whilst it might be small, it is very powerful. It has a carry handle that pulls out from the side to make it very easy to carry and also comes equipped with a hook so that you can hang it (in the loft or in a tent for example) and can stand up on a flat surface to use as a free-standing lantern.
The different lighting modes are very easy to select, just press the power button to cycle through to the mode that you require.
Charging takes a couple of hours and in an emergency you can even use it as a power bank to get some charge into your phone, although obviously this will deplete the battery in the torch. When not in use, it holds the charge extremely well.
Overall, this is a fantastic torch for home or outdoor use. It is waterproof, so it will stand up to the British weather if you take it hiking or camping, or just out walking the dog. It is also great for just keeping in the car as it is an excellent emergency warning beacon. The LED lights are super bright. The battery lasts a long time and the emergency modes are great.
The GEARLITE Rechargeable LED Torch has plenty of functionality and perfect for a multitude of uses at home, in the garden, camping and wherever else you might need some light. Its light weight and handle make it very easy to carry and the hook makes it easy to hang up or attach to a bag.
A great little super bright torch. Just remember, if for home use in an emergency or to keep as part of an emergency go bag, to charge it every so often and always charge it before taking it away with you as you can’t just pop in new batteries.
