W320TN

Most mornings, I walk to work. I walk about 3 miles. Whilst I am walking, I do like to listen to a bit of music so do wear wireless earbuds. True wireless earbuds are perfect for my travels – there are no wires to get in the way, they have a good battery life, and the case they come in recharges them when not in use, and they have excellent sound. I am a big fan of Edifier, I have been using their speakers, headphones and earbuds for years and was delighted when they sent me their newest addition to their true wireless earbuds range – the W320TN True Wireless Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation Wireless Earbuds (which even have AI).

Edifier’s W320TN Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Earbuds are available in glossy grey or ivory white colours. I received mine in grey, which I love – something different to the usual black or white offerings. They have a max combined battery life of 22.5 hours, which relates to between 3.5 to 5.5 hours constant usage from a single charge depending on settings you use (more about battery life later) and the rest coming from the charging case. Making use of Bluetooth v5.3 for better power consumption and switching between devices easier, they are also dust and splashproof and feature USB-C charging. They are even Hi-Resolution and Hi-Res Wireless certificated and feature wearing detection.

In the box:

  • Edifier W320TN Wireless Earbuds
  • Charging Case
  • USB-C Charging Cable
  • Instructions

They have a simple yet elegant design with an open fit design (have no silicone eartips), which I prefer as I find that they create a much more secure and snug fit in my ears. They also feature a stem with pinch points to control functions. The earbuds and charging case have a combined weight of just 51g, perfect for keeping in your pocket and lightweight and comfortable when wearing the earbuds.

Features:

  • Up to 27.5 combined battery life
  • Open-fit design
  • Adaptive active noise cancellation
  • Hi-Resolution and Hi-Res Wireless certificated
  • AI adaptive environmental noise cancellation
  • Wearing detection
  • Multiple personalisation’s via the Edifier Connect APP

The W320TN wireless earbuds are housed in a small protective glossy case with a hinged lid, and I love the look of the glossy grey. But the case is more than just a storage case to house the earbuds when not in use, it is also what charges the earbuds. The case has its own rechargeable battery so that you can charge the earbuds when not using them, wherever you are – without needs to find a mains outlet to plug them in! The case features a hinged lid with magnetic closing which does an excellent job of keeping the case closed but is still easy to open when needed. Each earbud has their own compartment within the case where each individual earbud slots into easily and snugly, keeping it securely in place. The earbuds stand vertically in the case. Each time the earbuds are placed within the case they will start to receive charge from the case itself. When removed, they will automatically pair to the device you have set them up to use with (if it is nearby of course).

The case is used to charge the earbuds, so this will need charging every so often. It features a USB-C connection on the base of the case for easy charging, just plug in a USB-C charger (a cable is supplied, but no charger – which I prefer as it is excellent for reducing waste as we all have several of these at home) and the case/earbuds will start charging. A full charge takes 1 hour to charge the earbuds and about 1.5 hours for the case. A full charge will give you a playback time of up to 3.5 hours (earbuds) + 14 hours (charging case) with ANC on and up to 5.5 hours (earbuds) + 22 hours (charging case) with ANC off. Usage time will also depend on volume and other settings that you use. It total, you can have up to 27.5 hours playback time. If you are in a hurry, a quick 10 minute charge will give you up to 1 hour use (again depending on the settings that you use). The case also features a small LED indicator light (pairing, charging, low battery etc.) on the front of the case and a pairing button on the rear.

Pairing to your phone or tablet is simple (as long as the device has Bluetooth enabled). The earbuds can be paired with two different devices so that you don’t have to unpair from one device to use on another. I use them with my phone and tablet so don’t need to keep pairing with each device. Pairing is simple and fast. On first use, right out of the case they will be already in pairing mode so just follow your normal device pairing routine. If you need to put them back into pairing mode, just press and hold the pairing button (can be found on the rear of the case) for three seconds. Once paired, they should always connect to that device when close to it.

These wireless earbuds feature AI Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling for better sound and ultra-clear calls. If you enable the ANC, it uses more battery power so usage time will be reduced before a charge is required, but it is excellent at cancelling out external noises. Whilst enabled, it uses different algorithms to utilise “real-time detection to make adaptive adjustments to match the appropriate bass compensation coefficient to reduce the loss of sound quality caused by air leakage during wearing, presenting a unique and excellent sound effect”.

But what about the sound quality? Well, I think that it is excellent (and I love the soothing sounds that you can access through the app such as peaceful countryside, relaxing piano with white noise and, my favourite, Thunder Rain – listening to rain and thunder I find quite relaxing). The EQ can be controlled through the Edifier app. Call quality is ultra-clear as it utilises the earbuds 6 microphones, even with ANC enabled.

THE W320TN ADOPTS A HIGH AIRTIGHTNESS INDEPENDENT SOUND CHAMBER DESIGN, EQUIPPED WITH EDIFIER’S NEW 13MM MULTI-LAYER COMPOSITE DIAPHRAGM UNIT, AND LINKED WITH A LOW-FREQUENCY INVERTED PHASE STRUCTURE OF THE REAR CHAMBER; 40KHZ WIDE BANDWIDTH, 990KBPS HIGH-DEFINITION RESOLUTION, FULL DETAILS, DYNAMIC, AND POWERFUL REPRODUCTION OF HIFI ORIGINAL SOUND.

W320TN

Controlling the W320TN wireless earbuds is simple and different from what I am used to with other wireless earbuds. I am used to touching the left or right earbud to control different functions and often would change settings or tracks accidentally when re-adjusting an earbud. With the W320TN I have had no accidental touches as they fit my ear much better than any others that I have used and use a pinch system rather than a touch/tap system. To control the earbuds, you just pinch the base of the stem on the earbuds (the number of times depends on what function you control – e.g. when listening to music, if you pinch twice you skip to the next track). You can easily feel where the pinch point is and it is so easy to use, I find it much better than the touch/tap system. You can even customise the pinch settings within the app (including pressure sensitivity).

The earbuds also feature wearing detection. I love this feature. Whilst listening to your favourite music, if you remove an earbud it will pause the track that you are listening to. Once you pop the earbud back in it will resuming playing. Never miss your favourite track again.

As there are no wires between the two earbuds or the phone/tablet they use a Bluetooth connection. I have found that the Bluetooth connection is very reliable – I have been using them every day and they haven’t lost connection or dropped out at all in the time I have been using them.

The earbuds are also rated IP54, this means that they are splashproof and dustproof, protecting them against dust, rain and sweat. You can exercise wearing them without the worry of them getting damaged. Just remember to dry them before putting them in the charging case.

And the features don’t end there. For the gamers out there, you can put the earbuds into gaming mode. This gives optimised audio transmission and 80ms ultra-low latency, which will give gamers a vastly improved visual to sound experience, no lag between audio and what happens on the screen (you won’t hear a gunshot seconds after the shot hits you).

Overall, I love the Edifier W320TN Adaptive Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Earbuds. They are my favourite earbuds to date and the most comfortable. Although some may see the colour options of grey or ivory white boring, I love the glossy grey – it makes them that bit different from all the other wireless earbuds. But they don’t just look good and fit well, they also sound fantastic with good bass and EQ settings for pop, classical and rock. They are extremely comfortable to wear with less pressure in the ear, especially over extended use, and the snug fit is excellent.

The ANC is superb. It works perfectly and adapts very well to external noises to block them out, resulting in a much better quality listening experience. And the Ambient mode still allows the quality of the music to come through whilst still being able to hear train announcements and crossing signals.

Receiving phone calls is simple and at times is much better than not using the earbuds as the noise cancellation is superb. The voices come across crystal clear (unless the person calling has bad reception).

The battery life is good with between 3.5 and 5.5 constant use before needing a charge. The earbuds charge when popped back into their case when you are not using them, so the battery is always topped up. The case and earbuds are so light that keeping them in your pocket isn’t an issue.

I find the pinch system to change tracks, answer calls etc much better than touch or tap, it is so easy to use and easy to customise. It stops those accidental touches.

I love the Edifier W320TN wireless earbuds, I think that they are fantastic all round. They sound great, are lightweight and comfortable to wear and easy to control through the pinch points and the app.
