Duvet

When I was growing up, the weather was fairly predictable, and you always knew what season it was. We had snow at Christmas, April Showers in April, some sun in Summer. These days, the weather and the seasons seem to be all over the place, paraphrasing Forrest Gump “it’s like a box of chocolates, you never know which one you’re gonna get”. Over the past few weeks, we have experienced chilly wintery nights, heavy rains and heavier winds and storms and the warmest Christmas Eve in 26 years. As I’m writing this, there is a storm warning in place for Storm Gerrit. And with different temperatures at night, what duvet do you put on the bed? A 15 tog duvet might just be too hot and makes for uncomfortable and interrupted sleep, whilst a thinner 4.5 tog summer one will just be far too cold to get any kind of sleep but would a 10.5 tog be just right (and no, I’m not having a weird conversation with Goldilocks).

As the British weather is so changeable at the moment, the best choice of bedding can be pretty hit and miss – and having to sort through a cupboard of duvets to get the correct tog rating can be a pain. Slumberdown offer the ideal solution, one duvet that offers 3 different tog ratings to cover, well, whatever the weather (as well as the bed and its sleeping occupants). Bedding for the changeable British weather – the All Seasons Duvet.

Slumberdown’s All Seasons Duvet is a 3-in-1 lightweight combi duvet with a hollowfibre filling and soft-touch cover. It is actually two duvets: a 4.5 tog and a 10.5 tog which can be used separately or combined together to create one 15 tog duvet. It pieces together or pulls apart to get your perfect tog rating of bed covering when the weather changes or you are too hot or too cold to give you the duvet that is just right (I promise I’m still not having a chat with Goldilocks!). This is an easy way to make a choice (and reduces space needed in the cupboard for storage of lots of different duvets). The All Seasons Duvet is available in single, double, king and super king sizes and is perfect for keeping you nice and toasty on the coldest of nights, nice and cosy on warm nights and nice and cool on hotter nights.

So how does it work? Each duvet is fitted with poppers around the edges, just push the poppers together to create one single 15 tog duvet. Or pull them apart for a 4.5 or 10.5 tog duvet. Perfect for every season.

Duvet

Overall, I really like this duvet. It is great having just one duvet that does three jobs. I don’t need to purchase separate duvets and means that I do not have surplus duvets taking up space in my bedding cupboard.

The duvets combine together easily and securely with the popper system (like the poppers that you find on your duvet covers), although if I did have to nit-pick, I would say that the duvets could probably benefit from a few more poppers – especially on the corners as sometimes the two duvets did pop apart.

In any combination, combined or separated, it is lightweight as it has a hollowfibre filling, but is very comfortable and keeps me at the right temperature for a more comfortable night’s sleep. The fluffy hollowfibre filling and soft-touch covers are made 100% recycled polyester (cover and filling) using non-allergenic materials so are perfect for people with allergies and they are machine washable (at 40°) and are dryer friendly.

I am very impressed with the All Seasons Duvet. It is comfortable and warm. Perfect for when the nights are cold and then get warmer again (I overheat quickly so it is perfect for me). It has given me the flexibility to get my sleeping temperature just right with the minimum of fuss.

The Slumberdown All Seasons Duvet is a very good duvet that really is perfect for every season. Soft and comfy with good temperature control, easy to fasten together or split apart and reduces storage space as well.
