There was a time where the humble light bulb was a simple thing. The only decisions you had to make when buying one was bayonet or screw fitting and the wattage. Nowadays they have evolved into energy saving, longer lasting bulbs with Wi-Fi connections, dimmable and colour changing temperatures, they can dance in tune to music, have timers and schedules and the latest addition to my home safety and energy saving measures, a motion sensing LED light bulb.
The Caldarax Motion Sensor LED Light Bulb is an energy saving LED light bulb. It is rated at 9w, which is equivalent to a 60w incandescent light bulb. It has a bright cold white 6000K colour temperature with 800 lumens. And is a lot cheaper to run than a traditional light bulb, saving up to 85% by reducing energy consumption. It also features a PIR sensor on the bottom of the bulb to detect motion and turn the light on when someone is within range (3-6 metres).

Overall, I love having these motion senor light bulbs fitted into my hallway. My hallway is always dark and being able to step out of a room in the hallway and have the light come on automatically without having to find the light switch is perfect.
When the PIR sensor detects any level of daylight, the bulb won’t turn on so the bulbs will not be turning on and off all the time. They do need darkness to work, which works well for my hallway as it has no windows. And I love that the bulb turns off 30 seconds after no motion is detected so that lights are not left on when you leave the area.
The motion sensor LED light bulbs are perfect for my needs and excellent for home safety. If someone gets up in the middle of the night and steps into the hallway, the lights will activate so there is no risk of bumping into things, tripping over anything or missing the stairs (if you have them). They would also be perfect for home security measures, add as a porch light and anyone that comes close to the door will turn the light on.
The motion sensor seems to work well when the bulb is installed correctly, downward facing and not covered by a shade. If you do using a light shade of any kind, as long as it doesn’t cover the PIR sensor on the base of the bulb it will still work.
With two in a pack, they are great value for money. They save money by using LED technology and by turning off when not needed. So will soon pay for themselves in electricity saved. And by using less electricity makes them better for the environment too.
They would also be great for garages, basements and laundry rooms etc, especially when entering with your hands full.
I think that these are an excellent safety and security device. They are also available in warm white and screw fitting.
