When you are having a bad day, have you ever wanted to give the world a big F U, or just wanted to flip the bird with flair? Most people will probably answer that as yes, we’ve all been there. Well, now you can in a way that is probably a bit more socially acceptable with the DIY Middle Finger Statue Kit from A Hobbyist Presents. And who knows, it might even be your next favourite weekend project, one that will give that big F U to your problems – well, for about 30 minutes anyway.
The DIY Middle Finger Statue Kit is a creative novelty gift for adults that is as simple as it is ingenious. But what is it? Well, I’m glad you asked. It is length of wire in a tin! While it may be just a length of wire, it is actually a wire sculpture kit that invites you to channel your inner rebel while flexing your creative muscles. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re a seasoned crafter or a curious beginner with a taste for the unconventional, this kit delivers a hands-on experience that’s as satisfying as it is disruptive.
This sleek silver tin of sass has everything you need to build your own middle finger sculpture (a not-so-subtle desk ornament): a length of pre-cut aluminium wire, templates and clear step-by-step instructions. And it is even available in four colour options (Black, Blue, Grey or Red).
Now I know you’ve heard the words “wire sculpture” and are thinking you are not the creative type and this isn’t the kit for you – well think again, you don’t need tools or glues, no prior sculpting experience, or even crafting experience for that matter. There is no fuss, no mess … just all attitude!
With a roll of pliable wire, you can bend the wire easily to match the included templates to create your middle finger structure. The instructions say you might need pliers, a cork board and pins. I didn’t need any pliers, the wire was very easy to manipulate by hand and it holds its shape extremely well.
If you are a seasoned crafter you can create the sculpture freehand, or, if like me, not a crafter you can follow the template. Pin the template to a cork board (there are markers to show where the pins go – I found it easier to not pin every hole and just move pins around when I needed them). With the template not going anywhere, just bend the wire, following the outline on the template to create the sculpture.
The instructions are refreshingly straightforward and so easy to follow. It’s a rare DIY crafting kit that doesn’t assume you’re already an sculpting expert. Expect to spend around 15-30 minutes on the build, depending on how fast you pace yourself and your own attention to detail and perfectionism.
When finished, you will have a free-standing middle finger wire sculpture to adorn your desk or windowsill, one that will certainly get people talking.

Overall, I found this to be a quick and fun crafting kit that has a fun theme and is very easy to do. The process of following clear, easy instructions and a visual template to bend and shape the wire is oddly therapeutic. Watching your masterpiece quickly take form is calmly meditative with a hint of mischievous fun … and a great stress reliever.
Once completed, the sculpture stands proudly at around 19cm tall and 11cm wide. The minimalist wire design gives it a modern, artsy vibe with a punk rock feel. It looks great on a shelf or desk and would make for an excellent Secret Santa novelty gift or just as a gift to yourself to create a talking point and helping to relax your mind.
Ideal for adults with a sense of humour and a love of hands-on projects. It’s not suitable for children (for obvious reasons), but it’s a hit with anyone who appreciates offbeat gifts, quirky home décor or a bit of DIY rebellion.
The A Hobbyist Presents DIY Middle Finger Statue Kit is more than just a novelty, I found it to be a quick but genuinely enjoyable crafting experience with attitude. It’s well-made – the wire is flexible but holds it shape. And its unapologetically cheeky design adds a bit of personality to your space. Go ahead and give the world the finger (in a fun way of course).
